I don't need no plotbunnies

The following list is most of my wips. Not all as some of been regulated to The Plotbunny Graveyard, or just shoved in a folder of things I wrote and hate. Some of these have a bit of writing to them, others are just scrappy notes and plotbunnies that will not die no matter how badly I neglect them. I hate my muse.

try to kill it all away- a sequel to the only thing that's real. I have written a few words and have the arc written out in my notes so I know what happens. I've just been putting this one off forever in fear that it will suck.
Fires Verse: (Steve/Bucky/Darcy) Two stories written and posted but the plotbunny doesn't want to go away so I think there will be more. I do have headcanon and notes for more happening after the story.

Fox Verse- Darcy is a mutant with a healing factor. Vignette style. I have a decent amount of words so far but it's been forever since the verse has been in my head. I feel the need to at least clean it up and fill in the two scenes I skipped so its in some way postable..

until one night she caught me right-(Steve/Darcy) Prequel to Lay That Pistol Down- How Darcy and Steve meet. (Chapter 1 of the prequel is done. I don't know how the next chapter will play out...though I have started in on it.

Rush Verse: (Steve/Darcy) I posted story 7 not too long ago but the story isn't done and despite telling myself I don't want to tackle the Winter Soldier arc part of me does. At least from a distance. I have a few ideas but no plot as of yet.

knives don't have your back- (Steve& Darcy) Dum Dum Dugan is Darcy's grandfather. There is one little drabble written but I would like to write a little bit more. Darcy telling Steve the stories she learned from Dum Dum and Steve separating truth from bullshit. I would also love to include Trip in the verse. I have the image in my head of Darcy and Trip playing together at a reunion. Him being stubborn and Darcy being stubborn and obnoxious.

The Minion VerseZombies, Roswellsweet collision, unexpected momentand sharp as a tack, and Dead Like Me: little verses that I haven't gone back to yet, but I still want to write more.

Pollen II: (Steve/Darcy, sex pollen): I wrote 'fever when you hold me tight' awhile ago and since then I keep thinking I really should have a story where Darcy gets hit by pollen...its 694 words at the moment.

it's not the years, honey, it's the mileage- (Steve/Darcy) This verse keeps whispering in my head so I'm adding it to the list. I just have such a love of them being on the road. Identity porn, faking the dead, fake married, all the fun tropes.

with a taste of your lips- (Darcy/Johnny) witch au. It's only meant to be a little ficlet and a graphic (maybe), but its being a pain and refusing to be written despite bouncing around in my head quite often.

ghosts- Darcy sees ghosts as a small child. Ghosts that aren't so much dead but frozen. Someone *cough* legete *cough* prompted me a terribly rude prompt of Darcy seeing Steve and Bucky but them not being able to see each other. I have two small scenes written and would like to write a little bit more if my muses is going to be helpful.

with your shield- (Steve & Darcy) Steve's a little broken...or a lot broken. I've written about 1k and I don't hate it but keep wondering if it would be better to make a few minor tweaks to turn it AU. Steve as the Winter Soldier.

poison apple- following the two fairy tales already in into the woods I am going to write a version of Snow White with Bucky as the boy with skin white as snow. Damn it, theactualcluegirl and aenariasbookshelf this is all your fault. I saved the tags into a fresh document and that is about all I have done so far. (Steve/Bucky, oh god everyone will hate it and it's not even written yet)

the Random and the Ridiculous- writing with dopemixtape. We have a bunch of ficlets roughly sketched out, most of them sorted before we fell down the rabbit hole that is White Rabbit verse.

and you know you're going to fall- (Darcy Lewis/Colin Shea, au-no powers) writing with dopemixtape. chapter 4 was posted two days ago so we have a little bit of a break before Katy and I delve back into the notes to see what we have planned for chapter 5.

Technopath- writing with jaqofspades. Darcy is a mutant who attended Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. This was only meant to be a quick ficlet but it's already 1k and there are more scenes that need writing. I'm really rather excited to be working with Jaq on this. Oh, and the delightful usedkarma has been playing in photoshop to make a graphic for when we finish.

May's fic list

and sharp as a tack (Steve/Darcy, Clint)

the terrible troll raises his sword

What?, she thinks, racking her brain for the right response. There was a game, a game she hasn’t thought about in the two years since Darcy failed at life and dropped out. Go big or go home, and she went home. Home to her perfect sister and a crappy job fixing computers at the local Buy More.

A Chuck AU.

move (Part 7 of Rush, Steve/Darcy)

Relationship. It was the first time she’d really put a label on what was between them. There was a weight to the word that should have scared her, should have sent her running off home. Running back to the girl she was, running after a half mad astrophysicist hyped up on coffee and sugar in the New Mexico desert. The world was a different place now than it was two years ago, she was a different person. Darcy didn’t scare easily anymore. Most of the time anyway.

The Minion Verse (Steve/Darcy, Natasha, Gru, Sam,Tony & the Minions)

The one where the Minions watch too many 80s romantic comedies and Steve Rogers gets a date.

lay your hands on me (Steve/Darcy)

When people needed her help, it generally involved coffee, hacking or a heavy dose of sarcasm. Steve didn't usually need a hand.

dollhouse (Steve, Maria, Darcy)

A Dollhouse au, ficlet.

dance with me (Steve/Peggy)

Lucid days were becoming scarce. Today was a good day.

go to sleep little babe (Steve, Tony, Clint, and Darcy)

Whatever happened, it can't be a good thing.

Well, I've managed to write, and post, a fair bit more fic, in May, than I thought. I'm really quite pleased with everything, though I think 'lay your hands on me' and 'move' (rush verse) are my favourite works for the month. I am a little bit biased in my love of Rush verse.

Look I even wrote angst laden Steve/Peggy, for the first time. Of course I cried a little while writing it but still...words. Though I'm still intimidated in writing Peggy, and I'm not sure I could write a longer piece with them, not yet anyway.

The WIPs:

I started working on a little AU ficlet that I will edit and post tomorrow once I make a little graphic to go with it. Also there may be a completely different AU that I murbled about today that already has enablers attached.

White Rabbit got a tiny bit of love, Katy gave it a hell of a lot more love than me, I think I tweaked two sentences, then panicked and blubbered. The first draft is done, I'm calling it, so shake your pompoms for the second draft to go well (Though I must admit that the first half has already been beta'd).

it's not the years, honey, it's the mileage has been kicking around my head a bit so I've written a few sentences for a new chapter. The verse isn't quite as fun as others to write but I do love it and how the words have fallen together in the end.

Um, and I may have taken some notes down for the next story in Rush verse.

April's fic list

it’s not the years, honey, it’s the mileage (Steve/Darcy)

Sometimes she thinks it’s the worst decision she’s ever made, running off with a man she barely knew. Life turned into a parody of a romance novel. Blood and lies. Days, and months, and miles. If she could turn back the clock she’d make the same choice again and again.

She took his hand before he offered it.

(a second chapter was written and posted and Sybil hasn’t entirely given up on this verse..I don’t know if I will write more or when but there is some in my head.)

the Minion verse (Steve/Darcy, Sam, Natasha, Gru and the Minions)

In which Darcy is Gru’s daughter and the Minions cause tooth-rotting amounts of chaos (a side effect of them watching far too many rom-coms).

(grew part II and part III I haven’t written any more yet, but there have been a lot of enabling enablers for this mini verse.)

things that have been seen(Sam, Steve/Darcy)

Sam sees something that he really, really wishes he didn’t.

they say that promises sweeten the blow (Peggy Carter)

Peggy on her last day at SHIELD.

white feather
(Steve Rogers & Bucky Barnes)

Steve receives a letter with a single white feather in it.

I haven’t worked on some of the things I meant to work on the past few weeks but with the Easter Holiday I didn’t have much time for writing. At least not the time needed to take away from family time, glamping and bumbling around the Cotswolds and Wales, and procrastination. Procrastination is always important.

There is a Chuck AU ficlet that should be ready to post tomorrow if I can make a little crappy graphic to go with it. It was meant to be a drabble but expanded into 800 words (a few lines snagged from the pilot peppered throughout so it has the right sound to it. I may add a tiny bit more).

I’m hoping to work on Rush and White Rabbit (with Katy) in the next week or two with things getting back on track. I need to get over my block for one small scene in WR so I may just skip ahead and work on another scene to sweeten Sybil up. Then its passing things back and forth with Katy, a lot of whining and a lot more wandering thoughts and what ifs.

The next story in the Rush verse is only missing a scene and a half but I haven’t opened it for more than thirty seconds in weeks. Though when I did I was still quite happy with the feel of it.

I’m proudest of the Indy verse chapter update (it’s not the years, honey, it’s the mileage), I just love the feel of the verse and them being on the run vaguely set after CATWS. The hardest thing to write was the Peggy ficlet, mostly because I was afraid I could never pin down her character well enough. I know all the rest of my characters are flexible, I like to shine the light on different facets of who they are. But Peggy had to be perfect..or as perfect as I could make her anyway.

I still have eleventy seven other wips, and a few prompts in my ask that I haven’t managed to get to yet. *weeps* But it’s not a bad amount of stories for the month. Not a clue about word count as I am useless at tracking that sort of thing.

March's fic list

“Go Petunias?” Darcy asks as she pulls the pink t-shirt  over her head. She pushes her glasses back on and the world comes into focus.

“My niece’s little league soccer team,” Jensen murmurs face down on the pillows.

villainess (Darcy, Steve)

“Oh, please you can stop with the name, rank and serial number biz, Captain. I really don’t care,” Darcy says, examining the nail polish on her right hand. “Damn I scuffed a nail.”

it's so fluffy (Steve/Darcy, minions)

In which the good Captain is kidnapped by matchmaking minions and ends up with a date. Blame lostdaemon

Oh, Katy and I posted chapter three of and you know you're going to fall and have been busy working on chapter 4, which I should be working on now but I'm making this post instead. There is also a fanmix and the recipe for Darcy’s Red Velvet Brownies.

The Indy fic (it's not the years, honey, it's the mileage) grew a second chapter from Steve's pov, it needs to be beta'd but once it is ship shape I will post it. I have been reliably informed that no body minds that it ups the rating quite a bit. Porn!

I started on a Peggy ficlet yesterday but then my brain got the worst of me, man I hate crying, but I'm doing better today so hopefully more writing will occur (White Rabbit or Rush verse).

I haven't worked on any other wips recently, though I dusted up and tidied a few older fics on ao3 and still need to do that to the rest of Pie verse (Chapter 6 is tidy now). It felt as if I hadn't written very much but looking at the list above it's a fair bit of posted stories.  I did pick at Rush verse a few times in the past month but then I got hit by the Indy verse plotbunny that would not lay down and die as I asked it to. Very politely I might add. I can totally do polite. Sometimes.

February's fic list

red and the wolf  (Steve/Darcy)

There are wolves in the woods, Stephen knows, with sharp teeth and golden eyes. With a mournful song to call down the moon. But still he slips among the trees, lets his feet stray from the well worn path. The wind carries the bite of winter as it tears autumn leaves from the trees; the shadows of trees hide patches of frost from the sun's warmth.

“The wolf is carnivore incarnate and he's as cunning as he is ferocious; once he's had a taste of flesh then nothing else will do.” ― Angela Carter

A retelling of the fairytale 'Red Riding Hood'

hallways (Steve/Darcy, Steve & Natasha)

“Damn right,” Steve says. He slams the shield over the mag restraint on his wrist, watches it fall to the body-strewn floor. The elevator pings loudly over the sound of ragged breathing and Steve tenses ready for the next fight, eyes tracking over the orange glow of the down arrow. The doors slide back to reveal Probationary Agent Lewis standing in the doorway, face pale, eyes wide behind the thick frames of her glasses, a tablet held tight to her chest with her left hand, the right curled around the grip of her sidearm.

change your stars (Maria Hill)

A woman’s life is marked in blood. Birth and moon and death.

A Maria Hill medieval AU drabble.

cold hands (Steve/Darcy)

He smells good. Spicy and warm and she's so tempted to plaster herself to him. Leech out every bit of warmth he has to give her. Never mind the ridiculousness of this moment.

tin man (Steve/Darcy & Tony too)

A scream echoes through the woods.

"Did you hear that," she asks jumping over a branch on the faint path.

"Yes...no...possibly? I need to do the math," Tony says reaching up to check the zipper imbedded in his skull.

A Tin Man fusion fic

I've got a bone to pick with you (Steve/Darcy)

"Open the door JARVIS," Darcy says, one hand clenching on a stack of files clutched to her chest the other clawed in the hem of her sweater.

The door buzzes and Darcy opens it, stepping into the apartment and slamming it behind her. It's perfect, she thinks, as perfect as Steve's stupid face and asshole tactics. She roams through the apartment and finds it empty. She didn't expect him to be there after all. She finds his desk and slams the stack of files onto it. A container filled with pens and expensive pencils spills across the table and onto the floor.

the WIPs list

The following list is most of my works in progress. There are a few plotbunnies I have running around my head, and in notes on my phone and in my writing journal that I haven't bothered to dig through yet. I think this list is more than long enough for now.

.....................................................

one more silver dollar- Steampunk Western AU. Darcy is an outlaw running from trouble right into the small town of Avenger. It will be a short oneshot but it’s being so difficult so I made a fanmix to help me write. (This fic still hates me even if the scene is all in my head)

try to kill it all away
- a sequel to the only thing that's real. I have written a few words and have the arc written out in my notes so I know what happens. I've just been putting this one off forever in fear that it will suck.

Fires Verse:
(Steve/Bucky/Darcy) Two stories written and posted but the plotbunny doesn't want to go away so I think there will be more. I do have headcanon and notes for more happening after the story.

Fox Verse- Darcy is a mutant. It’s got three scenes/chapters written so far, I have more notes for filling in the gaps.

until one night she caught me right- Prequel to Lay That Pistol Down- How Darcy and Steve meet. (Chapter 1 of the prequel is done. I don't know how the next chapter will play out...though I have started in on it.

I’ll pretend I’m okay with it all- (Darcy & Steve) angst and unrequited love. (First draft is done but it needs work and I’m not feeling this verse at the moment)

Island- Crash landing on a tropical Island, not as fun as you might think. (This is only notes at this stage…extensive notes with a few chunks of dialogue)

Bored- Chapter 5 is now up but I need to end it now. I know some of what happens in the last chapter. I have a bit of dialogue and some notes but that's about it.

Rush Verse: I've written about 600 or so words on story 7.  I know what happens but the characters aren't talking to me right now, though I have worked out what happens in the next scene so there is that)

and a 45- (Steve/Darcy/Bucky) ficlet, first draft is done, but it lacks polish and detail. It's only something to go into Electricity Hitting Metal so one day I will open it up and flesh it out a bit more.

lullabies for superheroes- (Steve & Darcy) has a second chapter half written. Darcy is accidentally turned into a baby (It's totally Tony's fault) and a rough outline for a third chapter where Darcy and Steve have to care for the rest of the team turned into toddlers. I wasn't going to write more but I got such lovely comments asking for more that I couldn't resist.

gramps
- (Steve& Darcy) mostly just a plotbunny at this stage where Dum Dum Dugan is Darcy's grandfather, and she isn't phased at meeting Steve though she is excited to talk to him about all the stories her grandfather told her about the Howling Commandos when she was little. It will be angsty and a bit bitter sweet as I imagine Darcy taking Steve to visit Dum Dum's grave and they watch news reels together that Darcy has seen a million times but she will keep watching them. Mostly I want them to bond over war stories and Steve telling her what is true and what is bullshit.

Pretty Baby
: I have a little plotbunny for  being handcuffed together.

succubus
: I have notes and it should only be a little ficlet of Darcy being other.

In the blood
: Darcy is Bucky's great-granddaughter. Steve/Darcy, possible secret relationship. Dialogue and notes.

Zombies
Roswell and
Dead Like Me: little ficlets I wrote that I may go back to as Sybil, my muse, isn't done with them yet and I really enjoyed working on them.

Pollen II: (Steve/Darcy, sex pollen): I wrote 'fever when you hold me tight' awhile ago and since then I keep thinking I really should have a story where Darcy gets hit by pollen...its  694 words at the moment.

detention- (Darcy/Bucky, High School au)- I have a prompt and a little plotbunny. Hopefully the bunny grows just a tiny bit bigger.

into the woods- following the two fairytales I've already written I would love to write one or two more. Though the Red Riding hood fic didn't get many readers it is one of my favourites. So I dunno what I shall do but I would love to write a Peggy fairy tale and a Steve/Darcy/Bucky one too.

the Random and the Ridiculous- Katy and I have a bunch of ficlets in the works, and a few large fics too:

Freaky Friday on a Thorsday (Steve/Darcy bodyswap ridiculousness. I blame Katy entirely for this one) dialogue, extensive notes and two scenes written maybe 2k.. I'm too lazy to check now)
Babe (Steve/Darcy, undercover) dialogue, a few paragraphs
Thieves (Steve/Darcy, Bucky/Natasha, AU) This one has a lot of notes and world building, with a few bits of dialogue but not much else yet.
and you know you're going to fall- (Darcy Lewis/Colin Shea, au-no powers) the first two chapters are up and posted. Over half of the third chapter is written and there are some later scenes sketched out with dialogue and tons of notes and dialogue)
The Professor- Steve is Darcy's art prof (300 odd words and a graphic I made which I should post).
Road Trip (Steve/Darcy/Bucky, high school/college au... not sure if this one is just a pipe dream and headcanon but I love it so its here)

January fic list

Rose Red (Darcy/Bucky Fairytale AU)

In a cabin in the woods lives two sisters. One cold winter's night there is a booming knocking upon the door.

A retelling of the fairytale 'Snow White and Rose Red'.

and you know you're going to fall (Darcy/Colin Chapter 2 updated)

Fresh out of college, Darcy Lewis lands a shiny new job in Boston, Mass. The day she moves into her new apartment, she runs into Colin Shea: cop, gorgeous, funny, and a bit of a jackass. A jackass that just so happens to the next door neighbor she may or may not be stealing WiFi from.

Colorado Red

Darcy/Steve) mechanic au ficlet

Roswell part III

The continuing saga of the Roswell fusion verse.

we use the weapons we have

A Peggy Carter drabble. All the feels on this one.

I didn't write as much as I had wanted to in January. But I did manage to bang out a decent amount of words despite my head not always being the best place. This morning I posted a red riding hood au, which was just shy of making it into January's posting. It did get written in January though so it is worth mentioning here.

I also worked on a few of my WIPs, sadly they are nowhere near ready to post. But I did work on them (Rush, Lay That Pistol Down, and White Rabbit) and I shall take that as a win.

we use the weapons we have

 A Peggy Carter drabble.

Awhile ago on tumblr there was a post asking for fic of all the Marvel Ladies and red lipstick. This tiny little scene popped into my head for Peggy but I couldn't make anything else work. But this, despite it making me sad, turned out better than I could hope for.

......

The metal tube of lipstick twists in her hand and with a practiced flick, the powder compact opens in her palm.

Lipstick is scarce in the war, but it is one of the few perks to working for the SSR. The lipstick glides in a thick layer on her parted lips. Red and waxy. It is not the color of blood, but the red of poppies and Christmas.

The color of paint on a round shield.

For a moment, Peggy imagines the weight of it dragging her down. She presses her lips together and smiles at her reflection. The smile is sharp-edged and brittle, fading before it reaches her eyes. Her mouth a red slash against the pale of her skin.  A wound that refuses to heal.

There will be no tears today.

There are no more tears left to shed.

Steve/Bucky fic recs for S

make one dream come true (you only live twice) by

Five times the Winter Soldier evaded capture.

In which there are tuxedoes, vodka martinis (shaken, not stirred), fakeout makeouts, massive property damage, a shark pit, and Steve has an Ursula Andress moment. But mostly, in true James Bond fashion, villains are seduced to the side of good.

through miles of clouded hell by

The Winter Soldier died before he was recovered by SHIELD. In a world populated by gods and goddesses, Steve Rogers ventures into the Underworld to bring back his long-lost friend.

just remains of an age by

On the walk back towards the bar, he can see the radio tower, outside the city limits but still tall enough to give the feeling like it's looming over all of them. Out of the corner of his eye it looks like there are tentacles coiled around the tower, like shadows but once he looks straight at it, they're gone.

He can see Jessica in the bar when he gets back and knocks gently on the door. She opens the door with smile and flourish. "Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life."

our faith caught up in flames by

"Are you needed today?" He asks, grazing his fingers over Bucky's shoulder, following scars and burns etched into his skin, marking the line between old and new. There is no obvious sign that his left arm is different, that it was torn from his body, except for the scar tissue. The physical sign of his contract with Persephone, her magic under his skin.

"No," Bucky murmurs. "Today I'm nothing but yours."

Steve smiles and and leans down to kiss his shoulder, covering Persephone's mark with his own. The flesh is dead and Bucky can't feel more then pressure, but he sighs softly. "I'll prove it's worthwhile."

Medvezhonok by

The Winter Soldier is on the run and no one is more surprised than he is by the fact that he is accompanied by a little boy who seems convinced that he is his father:

“What’s that, Papa?”

Papa flinches and looks at Stefan. “It’s called a Kalashnikov,” he says, in a strange voice. “You’re not to touch it, okay?”

"Stevie?" Bucky waved his hand dismissively. "Ain't shy. Just can't talk to women."

"Wonder why," she said, and there was irony there. Like she knew. Steve looked up and met her eyes, and went cold. Yeah. She knew.

a bear in the woods

 Sybil is a bitch.

In case you don't know, my muse is named Sybil and she is indeed a bitch. I was meant to be working on White Rabbit Verse, but instead I have been messing about with a little Darcy/Bucky fairy tale AU.  It's just hit 2k and I don't know where it is going. Well I know where it is going, I know how the fairy tale arcs it just got away from me a little bit and they ended up talking more than they were meant to.

So I'm a little lost from the path as I don't know which way to go now. Hell I don't even know if it's any good or if anyone will want to read it when it is done.

Honestly it was only meant to be around a thousand words.

Goddamn Bucky Barnes.

list the first lines of your last twenty stories

1. Snow is falling thick and heavy in the fading daylight and Darcy presses closer to the glass to watch through the small patch not covered in a thick lacework of ice.- ah, but it's cold outside (Steve/Darcy, MCU, T)

13. “Come on, Jane, if we don’t hurry all the good stuff will be gone,” Darcy shouts as she taps her boot on the floor, flicking through her tumblr dash on her phone.-But I'll be stumbling away (Slowly learning that life is okay)(Steve/Peggy, Steve/Darcy, MCU, T)

15. “Hurry up, Dorothy. You’re gonna miss the show,” Tony says as he pops his head through the lab doors.-I'm On Fire (Darcy/Steve, Tony, Clint, MCU, T)

16. "What's wrong? Why are you in my lab, Lewis? You shouldn't be in my lab," Tony says, taking a step towards Darcy where she is curled up, hugging her knees under one of his workbenches. -
this doesn't have to be anything at all (Darcy, Tony, Bucky, Steve, Steve/Darcy, MCU, T)

17. Monday morning finds Darcy curled half atop Steve, the sheets crumpled around her hips. -

20. She is curled up asleep under the quilt her grandmother made when she is woken by knocking heavy enough to rattle the door on its frame. -

and bonus first line for Lay That Pistol Down because I like it so much:

21. "Christ, Rogers, you look like hell," she says as he pushes through the tent flaps.-
lay that pistol down(Steve/Darcy, MCU, E)

What patterns do you see?

The biggest pattern I see is that I like to start fic off with dialogue. Jumping right into a conversation. That is part of the joy I find in fanfiction. Writing it or reading it just throwing yourself into the world and going with it. You know who the players are you just need to find out what makes them different this time around. There are a few ficlets in
electricity hitting metal that I didn't pull the first lines from but I think the selection of twenty shows off my writing well enough. I like using short sentences to start a story. Keeping things clean and precise.. or relatively so anyway.

2013 the year in fic meme

Total number of completed stories in 2013:

58

Total word count:

my ao3 stats say 213,050 words with probably another 20k or more of WIPs that are far from ready to be published. Holy crap that is a lot of words.

Fandoms written in: MCU with a few crossovers too.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?

I wrote a lot more than I ever would have imagined I would write. One might even say a fucktonne more. I never predicted writing more than a few little drabbles and getting it out of my system. I only wrote a few short things to start with in December of 2012, so when I joined up to ao3 the second week of January 2013 I thought that would be it. The two tiny things I wrote and maybe a bit more, as I had signed up to the first round of Trope Bingo and I think that is what really was the beginning of my downward spiral.

What's your own favorite story of the year?

Rush verse is my favourite verse at the moment (closely followed by lay that pistol down and the only thing that's real). Rush started out as a little oneshot for a square on my first Trope Bingo card. Little did I know that the verse would keep whispering at me and I would end up writing the second chapter on my iphone while I vacation and deprived of the internets but at random coffee shops and while shuffling around the grocery story. The verse kept growing and despite my many arguments with Rush Verse!Steve it shifted to become more than just friends with benefits that sass each other and randomly spout Firefly refrences. It developed depth, feelings and love even if they are both too chicken shit and stubborn to say those three little words yet. I have been roughly mapping out the next chapter of the verse and hope to work on it sometime soon after Katy and I get the second chapter of and you know you're going to fall finished.

Did you take any writing risks this year?

Writing at all. Although I wrote some drabbles here and there for Tin Man fandom and some Supernatural ones for a sick friend it wasn't really until this past year that I threw myself into fandom and fanfiction the way that I did.

I still don't know how such an utterly crack ship such as Steve Rogers/Darcy Lewis would come to rule my life but it did and well I'm still amazed that a) I wrote so much and b) that anyone wanted to read what I wrote.

Oh and probably writing all the smut.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?

I have a huge WIP list and would like to get as many of those written as possible before my muse Sybil takes a hike.

My best story of this year:

I have no idea. I'm so bad a choosing the best thing of anything that I do.But I'll be stumbling away (Slowly learning that life is okay) is a fic that started from a song playing in a coffee shop. I thought it was ridiculous but it whispered at me so I had to write it and I'm glad I did. There are a lot of little moments that I love sprinkled throughout the fic, the friendship and the banter and I just love this verse.

My most popular story of this year:

Promises and Pie-crust has the highest number of kudos. Its the second story I started writing for the MCU, and the Steve/Darcy ship. It is unbeta'ed and riddled with tense changes and god knows what else. It's my goal for the new year, or at least one of them to go through it and dust it up a bit and possibly write a tiny little epilogue and give Tony is damn pie.

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:

Probably the brittle bones verse. Its not got the most kudos but I really loved the headcanon for Darcy in that and how she turned out to be both strong and vulnerable. I have a lot of feels for this Darcy and for Bucky and all the jumbled up emotions running through their friendship.

Most fun story to write:

Collaborating with Katy on the random and the ridiculous oneshots and and you know you're going to fall has been the most fun writing experience of anything. Seriously we are utterly ridiculous throwing ideas, gifs, quotes and random snippets of dialogue at one another.

As for things I've written on my own... well the electricity hitting metal oneshots have been pretty damn fun to write and kept me entertained in the writing of them.

Story with the single sexiest moment:

Hmmm I have written rather a lot of porn this year. My resolve to not write porn dissolved by the end of January last year. cause we are fires in the night or your will is not your own or Bored. Writing smut is hard. All writing is hard. Why the hell did I decide to take up this hobby again?

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:

If you have read more than one of my stories you will find that I really love to play with different facets of my characters beyond having fun with banter. I just love exploring little personality quirks and I love the duality of Steve Rogers vs Captain America so much. I love writing Steve so damn human. Its why I love the MCU version of Steve Rogers so very much, he is a little darker, a little more of an ass at times, and is a man not ruled by the propaganda but by his own heart.

I like how when it rains turned out in the end. It's only very short but Steve ended up being more vulnerable and broken with Darcy that I have ever written him before. I don't tend to write a lot of angst, its bad for my brainpan but I do like how that turned out in the end.

Hardest story to write:

Aside from ah, but it's cold outside not playing ball and needing a lot of rewrites I think the hardest story to write was the only thing that's real. It was meant to be a little oneshot inspired by one of V's graphics but my headcanon spiralled. As they often do. The Darcy in 'the only thing that's real' is broken, and much more complicated than any other of my Darcy's. She pushes boundaries, she doesn't really have any to speak of as she is putting the pieces back together to form some semblance of herself. She has trouble communicating at times and I just have so much love for the verse and that Darcy. So much so that I plan on writing a sequel story. Possibly. Maybe. Its on the WIP list anyway.

Biggest Disappointment:

I don't know that I have any big disappointments in the fic that I have written and posted, though I do feel some degree of guilt over the ones that I haven't get gotten around to writing.

Biggest Surprise:

That anyone would want to read my stories. I never expected them to be read and loved by anyone but myself. Then I went I found my soulmate and best friend because of writing them.

Story I haven’t yet written, but intend to:

So so so many WIPs I wouldn't know where to start. Maybe the damn steampunk plotbunny will finally give me more to work with than a few hastily scribbled notes in a journal.  I just want to write all the AUs. ALL OF THEM.

((I have no idea where this meme originated I found it in my wanderings, saved it in a draft days ago.))

December fic list

I'm posting this now as I don't think I will have much time in the last few days of December to write and post anything. Though I do hope to work on one of my huge list of WIPs, probably White Rabbit Verse (and you know you're going to fall) because I have ridiculous feels for that verse and the second chapter really needs to be finished. Sometime soon anyway.

Rooster
, the one with the zombies, & probationary agent Lewis

A few short pieces posted to electricity hitting metal. The zombie fic I may go back to writing some more on because I have a lot of feels for that verse (I'm totally blaming imogenpenn for that, because she has an awesome zombie au here.)

we can be like they are (Darcy Lewis, Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes)

Meet Darcy Lewis. A young student attending the prestigious Culver University. Unhappy with her choice of political science she takes an internship with Jane Foster. One day when Darcy is returning from a coffee run she is hit by a falling hammer. Now decidedly dead, she is recruited to become a grim reaper. Her new boss,Phil Coulson, introduces her to Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, fallen heroes from World War II.

In death, as in life there are no free rides, even for grim reapers.

Bored (Darcy/Steve) Chapter update

"I’m bored," Darcy says. Two simple words that Steve really should have taken as a warning.

and you know you’re going to fall (Darcy/Colin) written with Katy

Fresh out of college, Darcy Lewis lands a shiny new job in Boston, Mass. The day she moves into her new apartment, she runs into Colin Shea: cop, gorgeous, funny, and a bit of a jackass. A jackass that just so happens to the next door neighbor she may or may not be stealing WiFi from.

ah, but it's cold outside (Steve/Darcy)

Snow is falling thick and heavy in the fading daylight and Darcy presses closer to the glass to watch through the small patch not covered in a thick lacework of ice. She scrapes her nails on the ice, and shivers at the cold seeping into her fingertips.

all my wips

The following list is most of my works in progress. There are a few plotbunnies I have running around my head, and in notes on my phone and in my writing journal that I haven't bothered to dig through yet. Though I think this list is more than long enough for now.

.....................................................

one more silver dollar- Steampunk Western AU. Darcy is an outlaw running from trouble right into the small town of Avenger. It will be a short oneshot but it’s being so difficult so I made a fanmix to help me write. (This fic still hates me even if the scene is all in my head)

Steve/Darcy Christmas exchange- the fic is finished and just needs one last beta read so it will be ready to post in a few days

Untitled
- a second story in the Crazy Darcy Verse. I have notes and know what the story arc is but I have put off starting writing this one because there will be angst, and hurt/comfort and upset.

Prequel to Lay That Pistol Down- How Darcy and Steve meet. (Chapter 1 of the prequel is done and with my beta. I don't know how the next chapter will play out... if I should post chapter 1 when beta'd or if I should wait till I've messed about with chapter 2 and actually got it written. )

Rush Verse: Story six in the verse was published last month but I'm not done with the verse yet. I have a few pages of notes for the next story.

and a 45- (Steve/Darcy/Bucky) ficlet, first draft is done, but it lacks polish and detail.

lullabies for superheroes- (Steve & Darcy) has a second chapter half written.

Mostly I want them to bond over war stories and Steve telling her what is true and what is bullshit.

handcuffed together
: I have a little plotbunny for this that won't go away so I may just write it to get it over with one day.

succubus
: I have notes and it should only be a little ficlet of Darcy being other.

In the blood
: Darcy is Bucky's great-granddaughter. Steve/Darcy, possible secret relationship. I have some dialogue and notes.

Zombies
Roswell and
Dead Like Me: little ficlets I wrote that I may go back to as Sybil, my muse, isn't done with them yet and I really enjoyed working on them.

Pollen II: (Steve/Darcy, sex pollen): I wrote 'fever when you hold me tight' awhile ago and since then I keep thinking I really should have a story where Darcy gets hit by pollen...its 456 words at the moment. Not many but it's a start.

detention- (Darcy/Bucky, High School au)- I have a prompt and a little plotbunny. Hopefully the bunny grows just a tiny bit bigger.

the Random and the Ridiculous- Katy and I have a bunch of ficlets in the works, and a few large fics too:

Freaky Friday on a Thorsday (Steve/Darcy bodyswap ridiculousness. I blame Katy entirely for this one) dialogue, extensive notes and two scenes written
Babe (Steve/Darcy, undercover) dialogue, a few paragraphs
Thieves (Steve/Darcy, Bucky/Natasha, AU) This one has a lot of notes and world building, with a few bits of dialogue but not much else yet.
and you know you're going to fall- (Darcy Lewis/Colin Shea, au-no powers) the first chapter is up and posted. Half of a second chapter is written and there are some later scenes written and tons of notes and dialogue)
Elevator: (Steve/Darcy) scene in the cap 2 trailer needs making into farce. We are on it and have dialogue and a few notes.
The Professor- Steve is Darcy's art prof (300 odd words and a graphic I made which I should post).
Road Trip (Steve/Darcy/Bucky, high school/college au)

Novembers fic list

I am sorely lacking in my ability to keep my dw journal updated. But I did write in November and I’m really pleased with the writing I completed. Despite all my doubts in my abilities as a story teller and the worries that I had over Rush verse not being loved by others the way I love it (and the handful of my friends and loyal enablers).

don’t cry- Sometimes being brave means trusting someone enough to be fragile.(Post Thor 2 fic where Darcy and Steve are their failboat selves.)

no shave NovemberDoes what it says on the tin… the Avengers decide to forgo shaving for the month of November. With awkwardness and Freudian slips.

shouldn’t part III- Bucky writes himself into the verse to give Darcy a very unsubtle push in the right direction. Words are spoken and promises are made.

Roswell and Roswell part II- Darcy and Jane are waitresses and Steve Rogers isn’t quite what he seems. A Roswell AU. I don’t think I’m quite done with this verse, because someone keeps reblogging Roswell gifs and I keep getting feels for watching Roswell and writing just a little bit more.

bullet hole- While Captain America is off on a training mission Darcy has a normal day at the office. Or as normal a day as any day is when working for the man…or you know a semi super secret government organisation. Brand new assignment in hand agent Lewis is off under Sitwell’s command. Things don’t quite go as planned, and they are running for their lives far sooner than Darcy hoped. (Part six of the Rush verse. This verse is one of my favourites, I am really proud of the banter and the progression of their relationship.)

don't cry

“Sup, Cap?” Darcy says, barely looking up as she types rapidly on her laptop.  It’s late in the evening but if she doesn’t get Jane’s notes finished...well, she really doesn’t want to think about the consequences. Jane may be small but she is a force to be reckoned with when she isn’t distracted by science or stacked demigods.

"I heard you had a date last night," Steve says casually as he pulls a bottle of beer out of the fridge.

single line bingo

by: [personal profile] merideath
fandoms: Marvel MCU, A League of Their Own
tropes: Road trip, bets/wagers, time travel, au crossover, sharing a bed)

fic: Montana (MCU, Steve/Darcy, 10k words, rated M, Road Trip)
summary/preview: Darcy: Are you still coming to visit today?
He can’t help but smile at the text. Darcy’s his...well, Darcy is his best friend. His only friend outside of the team. The reason he has stopped in a tiny diner in Montana on his drive along I-90 to Seattle.
content notes: No warnings apply

fic: fever when you hold me tight (MCU, Steve/Darcy, 1,790 words, rated M, bets/wagers)
summary/preview: Some days working in the labs is actually almost fun. There's an endless supply of decent coffee, better music and all the best toys to play with. Other days involve alarms blaring and Avengers busting through walls. Today Darcy finds herself swept off her feet. Literally. She isn't terribly sure if that's a good thing or not.
content notes: No warnings apply, though it is a sex pollen fic, there just isn't any actual sex in it.

fic: But I’ll be stumbling away (slowly learning that life is okay) (MCU, Steve/Peggy, Steve/Darcy, 9,521 words, rated T, free space, time travel)
summary/preview: If Darcy thought life would be boring after meeting a god and helping evacuate people in the wake of a fire breathing mechanical monstrosity she was wrong. Some things never change though. She makes coffee and ramen noodles, laments the loss of her ipod, and does whatever Jane asks her to do. Mostly. That is until the day she buys a vintage comic book from a street market and has a very interesting dream. At least she thinks it’s a dream...
content notes: No warnings apply

fic: dirt in the skirt (MCU, A League of Their Own, Steve/Darcy, 1,223 words, rated T, au: crossover)
summary/preview: “Alright girls. Today on the field you’re gonna meet a real hero,” Jimmy says clapping his hands together.“Is he married?” Mae asks as she snaps her compact shut. Darcy bites her tongue and pushes her glasses up her nose.
content notes: No warnings apply

fic: your will is not your own (MCU, Steve/Darcy, 6,060 words, rated E, sharing a bed)
summary/preview: Agent Lewis is sent to collect Captain Rogers from the wilds of Alaska. A snowstorm is brewing and Darcy's ride abandons them to the elements... or a tiny log cabin. She's pretty sure she watched that movie. It didn't end well.
content notes: No warnings apply

......

I'm incredibly pleased to have finished a single line bingo... though I did write an extra square when the plot bunny sidelined me.

fic: this is as good a place to fall as any (MCU, Steve/Darcy, 2,791 words, rated E, fake/pretend relationship)
summary/preview: Most of her work at S.H.I.E.L.D. involves paperwork and hacking into other government databases, not industrial espionage and getting to play Sydney Bristow.
content notes: No warnings apply

I wanted to write more to fill a second line but there just wasn't time, these fics just took up all the rest of my brain space so I will continue to work on my WIPs and eventually get them finished and posted.

September's fic list

The following is a little list of all the fic I wrote last month... or rather fics I wrote and collaborations with Katy. We are kinda awesome as a team and managed to post two ficlets for Random and Ridiculous.

I hadn't realized I had written and posted as much as I have done. Stories that I'm really quite pleased with. Mostly right now I'm procrastinating as words aren't my friends today or at least my WIPs aren't playing ball and my muse is ignoring me trying to bribe her. Anyway my list...

this is as good a place to fall as any: Most of her work at S.H.I.E.L.D. involves paperwork and hacking into other government databases, not industrial espionage and getting to play Sydney Bristow. (Steve/Darcy, smut)

if you bring the water:  Darcy and Steve conspire to cut Bucky's hair. He isn't impressed. Banter and UST ensue. (Steve, Darcy, Bucky with a side of Darcy/Bucky UST)

lipstick: He sees her mark everywhere. Graphic can be found here. (Steve, UST)

truth (a random and ridiculous story by Katy and me): Steve is suffering the side effects after Loki puts a spell on him. He spills a lot of truth tea. (Steve&Darcy and all of the UST)

fever when you hold me tightSome days working in the labs is actually almost fun. There's an endless supply of decent coffee, better music and all the best toys to play with. Other days involve alarms blaring and Avengers busting through walls.Today Darcy finds herself swept off her feet. Literally. She isn't terribly sure if that's a good thing or not. (Steve/Darcy, the one with the sex pollen, tactile!Steve and no actual sex...yup you heard that right.)

french fry (A random and ridiculous story by Katy and me): Would you like fries with that? (Steve/Darcy)

round 2 card update

 roadtrip—- Montana

Darcy: Are you still coming to visit today?

He can’t help but smile at that. Darcy’s his...well, Darcy is his best friend. His only friend outside of the team. The reason he has stopped in a tiny diner in Montana on his drive along I-90 to Seattle.

bets/wagers—- fever when you hold me tight:

Some days working in the labs is actually almost fun. There's an endless supply of decent coffee, better music and all the best toys to play with. Other days involve alarms blaring and Avengers busting through walls. Today Darcy finds herself swept off her feet. Literally. She isn't terribly sure if that's a good thing or not.

FREE SPACE: But I’ll be stumbling away (slowly learning that life is okay)

If Darcy thought life would be boring after meeting a god and helping evacuate people in the wake of a fire breathing mechanical monstrosity she was wrong. Some things never change though. She makes coffee and ramen noodles, laments the loss of her ipod, and does whatever Jane asks her to do. Mostly. That is until the day she buys a vintage comic book from a street market and has a very interesting dream. At least she thinks it’s a dream...

au: Crossover—- dirt in the skirt

“Alright girls. Today on the field you’re gonna meet a real hero,” Jimmy says clapping his hands together.

“Is he married?” Mae asks as she snaps her compact shut. Darcy bites her tongue and pushes her glasses up her nose.

sharing a bed —— your will is not your own (It’s finished but not beta’d yet. Soon I promise.)

Agent Lewis is sent to collect Captain Rogers from a small cabin in the wilds. There is a storm brewing and Darcy's ride has left her to the weather alone in the woods. She's pretty sure she watched that movie. It didn't end well.

.......

so I've written everything for a single line bingo. And I am mulling over a second line (I've written one square on it already). I don't know if I will get the second line done in time... but I hope to have fun trying. That is the important thing in writing. If you don't love it and enjoy doing it then there is no point.
